BalCannes - regional showcase of best advertising agencies
For years, thousands of marketing professionals from the region meet at Weekend Media Festival. Therefore, Rovinj is the right place for a new initiative named BalCannes where agencies from Southeastern Europe will have the opportunity to present themselves on the regional market by showing their best projects on BalCannes exhibition.
The purpose of BalCannes exhibition is not competitive, rather it gives an overview of agency projects that is present on the regional market and is a great opportunity for advertisers to see the best work of the region. It gives a useful preview to clients when selecting the agency that will provide the best support, but also it provides a unique opportunity for agencies to learn firsthand what is happening outside their borders.
All advertising agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia are invited to present their best projects in the form of 3 minute video summaries that will be running continuously in a special BalCannes hall during the entire duration of the festival.
All submitted projects will be continuously screened within BalCannes exhibition. Although the project is not a competition, twenty five most interesting projects will be chosen by journalists. Representatives of agencies whose work has been chosen will be able to further introduce themselves to the participants through 5 minute presentation in the main festival hall, in prime time.
SELECTION
After registration deadline is closed, professional journalists specialized in marketing, one from each country, will select the most interesting 25 projects.
Assessment is secret and carried out online.
Journalists will review and evaluate all submitted projects, except the ones from their own country and the individual projects where another connection of interests exists.
Points 1 - 10 are assigned to all projects according to three main criteria:
1. Originality of creative idea
2. Quality of execution
3. Market relevance (results, success in the market)
The maximum number of points per project is 50 (10 points from each of five journalists, the sixth is exempt from scoring).
Upon completion of the assessments, total number of points for each project is added up. The 25 projects with the highest ranking points will be presented in the program of the festival, in prime time via 5-minute presentation.
Among the selected projects, there can be a maximum of 3 projects from the same agency in order to ensure equal representation of the applicants in the presentation section.
If there are 4 or more, these projects will not be presented and the following projects with the highest number of points will be chosen. The best 25 projects will be announced on September, 17th and applicants will be notified directly in order to prepare for 5-minute presentation of their project(s).
REGISTRATION
Given the character of the exhibition, there are no categories, and registration is open to all interested agencies. Projects are applied in the form of 3 minutes video clips (.mov format, min. resolution 720 x 576, max 120 MB) which show the creative work and also briefly describe the challenge and market context as well as proposed solution and reached results.
The registration needs to be fulfilled online with payment of 999 kn + VAT / € 135 + VAT (25%) per project. You can register projects and campaigns that have been published several times in one or more media, in one or more countries in the period from May, 1st 2010 to May, 1st 2012 (it is essential that the project in this period was at least partially active). Registered projects can be in local language or in English.
Only those projects that advertisers have approved, used, and released during the qualifying period may participate in BalCannes. By registering, the agency confirms that it has received approval from the advertiser. Projects which do not meet these criteria will be disqualified in order to preserve the integrity of the exhibition and to ensure that other works have a fair chance of success.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
BalCannes participation is possible for projects and campaigns which (are):
- creative product from companies registered in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro
- not adapted work of international campaigns designed by creative companies that are not registered in the countries mentioned above
- published several times in one or more media, in one or more countries in the period from 05.01.2010. to 1.5.2012.
- submitted in a video format up to 3 minutes (.mov format, minimum resolution of 720 x 576, 120 MB max)
- include creative materials of your project and briefly describe your challenge and marketing context as well as proposed solution and reached results
- in local language or in English
- registered for BalCannes in the period of 20. 6. - 15. 9. 2012. and for which the organizer received payment by the deadline (September 15) price of € 135 + VAT (25%) / 999 kn + VAT per project
- have adequate copyright laws and codexes of the home country
If any breach of these conditions of participation occurs, the work will be excluded from the competition. In case of serious violations, work may be suspended from participation until further notice and the information of the breach will be made public.
After registering for BalCannes, you consent to publication of your entries in the original form for all the needs of the project by organizers.
The organizers agree to keep your information completely private and not to use it without your consent and approval, nor disclose or use by third parties. Contact data and information provided during the registration process will be solely used to forward you the necessary information relating to the project.
